In June 2016, Network Rail introduced the ‘Traumatic Incident Management’ standard which provides a consistent and effective process when supporting an employee who has been involved in, or witnessed, a potentially traumatic incident that may impact their mental health.
The standard is designed to:
- Support employees who may be at risk of developing a mental health condition following a potentially traumatic incident
- Support line managers when managing a colleague who has witnessed, or been involved in, a potentially traumatic incident
- To improve the health and wellbeing of our colleagues
The standard ensures we are compliant when supporting employees who may have been exposed to a potentially traumatic incident in the workplace, as enforced by the Health and Safety at Work Act, 1974.
