Also sometimes called a Workstation, this is the Signaller’s “workface” where the Routes and Signals for all the trains in the area of Control are set. Some smaller Boxes may have only one or two Panels, whereas Area Signalling Centres/IECC’s will consist of a number of Panels each divided up into geographical areas of control and having their own assigned number. Each Panel will have some form of display showing where each individual Signal/Route/Points/Track Circuits are located and their position and indication at any given time. Once a train I.D. has been interposed in a Signal Berth the Signaller is then able to observe the passage of the train through the area of control by the occupation of Track Circuits.
