The information on this page is supplied and managed by the Rail Infrastructure Assurance Group (RIAG).

RIAG is one of the working groups of the Infrastructure Safety Liaison Group (ISLG). Its membership is made up of contractors that satisfy at least two of the following criteria:

  • Hold a Principal Contractors Licence
  • Hold a Plant Operators Licence
  • A CDM Principal Contractor
  • A Train Operator (in possession of an ORR Safety Certificate)

It currently has 20 contractor representatives on it, as well as someone from Network Rail and the Railway Safety Standards Board. It is chaired by Andrew Adams from Thales. Terms of Reference for RIAG can be viewed in the attachment section of this page.

ISLG set RIAG problem statements to solve and RIAG, who meet every 8 weeks, attempt to address these issues by sharing best practice and lessons learnt within their respective companies.

RIAG Common Rail Industry Core Induction Programme

RIAG in Feb 2012 helped produce a Core Induction, its purpose is to give such staff an initial overview of the risks and their controls that can arise when working in the railway construction project environment. This led to the Industry Common Induction. See the ICI pages for more details.

For more information about RIAG or the work streams that they are involved in please contact Andrew Adams chair of RIAG, andrew.adams@thalesgroup.com or see pages attachments for further information.
