Long-term effective management of the impacts of weather and climate change is essential for the reliable and safe running of the railway. Key to achieving this is the WRCCA Strategy and the Wales Route WRCCA Plan (2014).

The Wales Route faces an average of circa 70k weather related delay minutes each year giving an annual average Schedule 8 cost of around £1.3m, annualised summaries of delay minutes and cost can be seen in the graphs below.
