What is a Red Zone?

Q. What is a Red Zone?

A. You are not protected from train movements in a red zone. Instead you will be warned when a train is coming through various systems. Warnings are given so that you are in a position of safety at least 10 seconds before the train passes allowing you to reach a position of safety. There are five methods of warning, given here in order of preference: Automatic track warning system (ATWS)  Train operated warning system (TOWS)  Lookout operated warning system (LOWS)  Pee Wee  Unassisted lookouts
